Product Research
Before you create a digital product, you need an idea that people actually want.
There are 3 keys to a winning idea:
- It solves a specific problem
- It delivers a quick win
- It is easy to consume
You are not writing an encyclopedia. You are creating a shortcut that helps someone solve a problem fast.
Using AI For Research
Here is how to use AI to generate product ideas. Head over to ChatGPT and use the following prompts:
Prompt 1:
Give me 10 simple digital product ideas for [your niche] that solve a real problem.
Prompt 2:
What are the top 5 frustrations people have in [your niche] that they would pay to solve?
Prompt 3:
Based on current trends in [your niche], what micro-products or lead magnets could I create?
Manual Research Methods
If you want to go deeper or prefer to do some research without AI, here are a few powerful manual methods:
- Facebook Groups and Communities
- Look at questions people are repeatedly asking
- Check for common pain points or frustrations
- Amazon Book Reviews
- Search for books in your niche and read the 3-star reviews
- Look for gaps, complaints or things the book didn’t explain well
- Reddit and Quora
- Type your niche + “problems” or “how to” in the search bar
- Look for active threads and real-world challenges
- YouTube Comments
- Watch niche tutorial videos and read the comments
- People often ask follow-up questions or express what they still need help with
- Survey Your Audience
- Even if your audience is small, ask them: “What’s the #1 thing you wish you could figure out about [topic]?”
These manual methods are gold when you want to validate demand or find untapped angles.
